In 2006, Vickie started Spin® for the Cure, a fund raising event that benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Cincinnati. The event has been a great success, raising over $136,000 worth of proceeds to benefit breast cancer research. Spin® for the Cure is also recognized nationally by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
“Health and fitness have always been a passion of mine, and I love helping people feel good about themselves by helping them achieve their personal fitness and nutritional goals,” says Vickie
Vickie has been a certified YAS Instructor (Yoga for Athletes, Yoga & Spinning of Venice California) for four years. After receiving news that two of her close friends were diagnosed with breast cancer, Vickie decided to take action and fight the disease by using her skills as an instructor.
Vickie’s proactive lifestyle extends to the country of Belize, where she takes an annual mission trip to help the lives of those who are less fortunate. The mission brings a team of over 50 volunteers, which includes a handful of medical professionals, to provide free surgery and medical evaluations, to build homes for poor families and to sponsor the educational costs for over a dozen children for a year. Vickie brings reading glasses to help improve the people’s vision and sunglasses to protect their eyes.
When Vickie is not teaching, working out or fund raising, she loves to cook, dance, garden and host theme parties. She is a wife of 26 years and a mother of two children.
